California native Aaron Ruell is an accomplished director and photographer, with a recognisable humour and distinct visual style that blends meticulously crafted sets with equal parts comedy and kitsch.
Top brands including Coca-Cola, BMW, Target, Comcast, Ritz Crackers, Wal-Mart, Weight Watchers, Old Spice, AT&T, Kaiser Permanente, and more have turned to Aaron for his compelling and imaginative vision. With whip-smart humour, Aaron’s spots can capture everything from relatable human eccentricities to poignant affection. His insightful casting and performance instincts are informed by his experience in front of the camera, on projects including cult hit Napoleon Dynamite. Aaron has also written and directed two short films, Everything’s Gone Green and Mary, both of which were official Sundance Selections.
In addition to his extensive commercial work, Aaron’s photography has been exhibited in solo shows in New Orleans, Paris and Milan as well as group shows in Los Angeles and Buenos Aires. “Some Photos,” a collection of his photography, was awarded Best Book by PDN.
