TBWA commissioned Pod Director Fauna (Andrew Brewer) to create a 60sec launch film of their new Datto app.
Datsun created Datto, a useful app that syncs with your driving and your car’s performance and gives you all the information you could need whilst out and about.
The word Datto means rabbit in Japanese and so the client wanted to avoid cold and digital which can be synonymous with tech and gadgets. The brief from TBWA was to create a film with charm and personality, whilst still showcasing the key technical capabilities of the app.
Fauna created an origami-esque Datto Rabbit to personify the app and added a tactile paper texture to the whole environment to mimic stop motion sets, which simplified the visuals, allowing the relationship between Datto and the car to be the main focus. He modelled, animated and rendered the whole project in C4D. The film was launched late August at an event in Indonesia.
