In line with Jury President Mark Denton’s CREATIVE CRAFT manifesto, the Shark Awards Kinsale introduce a combination of award-winning creative minds and craftspeople to the speaker line-up, including a Director, a sculptor and an artist.
Director Vaughan Arnell, famous for his collaboration with Sam Smith, George Michael, Spice Girls, and Robbie Williams, and THAT Levi’s ‘Creek’ ad will take the audience through the world of Music Videos and the differences in directing promos vs commercials. At the time of writing, his Music Video for Sam Smith’s ‘Dancing with a Stranger’ is the most viewed YouTube Music Video in 2019 so far by a British artist.
Chief Creative Officer of Grey London, Vicki Maguire will be looking at how our disjointed world will open the path for greatness ensuring creativity will save the day.
Legendary Creative Director, now Creative Consultant Dave Dye also takes to the mic in his talk ‘Advertising Unplugged’.
Artist James Burke, and founder of award-winning artist studio Acrylicize will explore ‘Three Difficult Truths to Creativity’ and how he has overcome barriers to creativity in his epic installations.
*Portrait sculptor Wilfrid Wood *discusses his career on creating well-known heads and figures and the craft of bringing his subjects to life.
London Edit House Cut+Run host a panel with the creators of some of the most artistic music videos in recent memory. They will discuss the trends, challenges and remarkable work characterising the industry today.
Cinelab London will host a panel of filmmakers to discuss the huge renaissance of creatives shooting on film, covering recent film projects across music, fashion, feature film, episodic and commercials.
The changes in festival format of previous years focuses on four individual days for Short Films (Wednesday 18th September), Design (Thursday 19th September), Music Videos (Friday 20th September) and Advertising (Saturday 21st September).
Aisling White, Festival Director commented: "Our new Sharks format is all about celebrating the key strands of our festival: Short Films, Design, Music Videos and the business of Advertising. Winners will be presented their Shark Trophies on each of the four days with a mix of talks + winners’ presentations."
The international festival of creativity is held in the picturesque town of Kinsale, Ireland, in September.18th – 21st.

About the awards With a passionate focus on craft, the festival has added new categories for this awards season. Prominent design writer and consultant Lynda Relph-Knight will oversee the design category which is newly expanded to reward design craft.
Recognising the importance of innovative technology within our creative landscape, is the brand-new Immersive category which will award emerging and innovative tech ideas in AR, VR and experiential campaigns.
This is also the first time that Animation has its own category looking at the craft of direction specifically to animation, design, character design and animation VFX.

The Kinsale Shark Awards celebrates Irish and International creativity whilst encouraging new fresh approaches to advertising and media.
